Artist Emily Randolph brings her jewelry designs of butterflies, hearts and gemstone beads to Jessica Hagen Fine Arts + Design for a morning kick-off to holiday shopping. The trunk show is one day only on Saturday, September 24, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Emily Randolph’s jewelry designs are well made, beautiful and exceptionally original. Her choice of stones is informed by the fact that she is also a painter, which makes the work all the more special and unique. It’s going to be a great trunk show!” says Jessica Hagen.
Randolph, born in Greenwich, CT, is now based in Newport, RI. Her jewelry designs are fresh, elegant and contemporary – and above all, very wearable. All of Randolph’s designs are affordable luxuries, many of which are unique designs. Of all her creative work, from art to writing and design, jewelry has been her first love. While studying for her BA at Hamilton College, she also studied gemology at the Gemological Institute of America in New York.
The Hagen Gallery also carries Randolph’s mixed artworkwhich was featured in a May 2022 show titled “Blue + White», a study on the themes of water with photographer Penny Ashford. Randolph’s work is in private collections around the world, from the United States to Europe to Australia. She has notably been commissioned with over 250 works of art ranging from traditional photography and mixed media paintings to an innovative photography-based water fountain for a resort community in Scottsdale, AZ. She was also one of 100 artists to be judged as part of the annual fame Fine Arts Celebration exhibition in Scottsdale, AZ, which continues to represent his work.
“My work is inspired by deep and lasting memories of growing up by a large, lush pond in the Connecticut woods and the magical tales my parents told my brother and me. In particular, the stories of my mother of a dragon in the pond – said more to get us out of the pond and out of harm’s way – had a lasting impression because my studio, today, is called Dragonwood All of my parents’ stories were about a mysterious realm of nature that has fascinated me ever since. My thoughts are never far from this secret world by the pond and all of its characters.
Randolph’s travels also had a great influence on his works and designs. She savored the lush gardens of England, where she lived for seven years and where her father was born. She was also fortunate enough to experience the white waters and marine life of the Great Barrier Reef, which forever dominate her use of color.
“These mysterious natural worlds, where humans are absent characters, influence my art. And now the waters of Newport, RI, my new hometown, inspire me every day. I strive to bring my love of all these beautiful places to life in each of my works. Each contains a story and each story will be adapted by the viewers with their own.
